Install ​

Download the build for your OS from Releases.

macOS ​

The app is ad-hoc signed but not notarized (no Apple Developer account), so Gatekeeper blocks it on first launch. After copying Coilbox to Applications, clear the download quarantine:

(or right-click the app → Open, then confirm in System Settings → Privacy & Security). This is a one-time step per download. macOS builds are Apple Silicon (arm64) only.

Windows & Linux ​

Download and run the installer / AppImage from the latest release.

Documentation ​

The documentation is split by who is reading.

  • Player guides. Battle presets, Galactic conquest, Warpath and portable mode.
  • Game developer guides. Package coilbox with your game, brand it, and make campaigns, scenarios, maps and units for it.
  • Server staff. The moderation and admin tools for an uberserver lobby.
  • Reference. The app's routes, replay data sources, the parts pack format and the replay track format.

MIT-licensed, and the Lua that runs in the engine is MIT or GPL-2.0-or-later. Bundles pr-downloader (GPL-2.0-or-later, © the Spring/Recoil authors).
